Where to find the largest hobbies\interests international communities in the internet now? (need help)

hi guys and excuse me for my English, it's really bad and it's not my first language. I was depressed for years, and when I started to feel a little better I found myself alone. It's OK, and I decided to find new friends. I tried to find them visiting real events, hobby classes and so on, but it looked like I was too old for younger people to feel comfortable together, they were awesome, but we just had too different problems and priorities to be really close. On the other side, people of the same age with me prefer to spend time with their families, not to search for new friends (and it's OK, I understand it and I cannot blame them for that).

So, I decided to find new friends in the Internet. I started from a couple of large international communities for penpals. And it was a great mistake because everybody seemed to be interested only in dating, virtual sex, scamming, spamming and other "hi go to skype now send me ur photos now!", not in communicating. I still felt alone. Girls preferred dating, so they didn't want to make friends with me too, and boys behaviour was kind of "whining macho". They were searching not a friend or a girlfriend but an emotional toilet - to disappear when their emotional diarrhea is stopped. I was so stupid to support one of those whining internet macho for weeks, and when his life got better (money, job etc) and I felt exhausted and needed some communication too he said he has no time for me anymore. Real life, sorry dude! I feel better and I'm not interested in what you are feeling. On the other hand, another guy who was ready to communicate with me for a long time not for virtual girlfriending finally blamed me in "using and throwing him away" after I was very ill for 2 weeks and was not able to talk to him often enough! Great. Another one soon started to tell me about his virtual girlfriends though I had insisted that I didn't like such kind of stuff, and panic if I didn't reply him in a few hours, ewww... dude we met a couple of days ago! It's creepy!

So I decided to try another way and to find large communities related with hobbies and interests - maybe it will be easier to communicate with people who are more interested in some common things. Even if I will not find any new friends, I will not feel so alone. But I feel frustrated and lost. Yep, I'm not banned in Google, but when I try to find something like "books internet communities", "craft forum" etc etc I find only old, dead, abandoned pages. So where is it possible to find the largest (and friendly) communities of people, possibly 30+, united by hobbies or profession but with a possibility for personal communication, not only for tutorials of professional themes in our days? Things I am interested in includes books (preferrably fantasy and sci-fi), movies, computer games, drawing, modelling, arts and crafts, historical reconstruction, time organizing. I just cannot understand where to start.

Thank you very much, anyway. BTW I realise I'm not an angel too.

@plumPomegranate7245

I've been looking for the same!

As a woman I totally get where you're coming from. The EXACT same thing happens to me for years to this day... I had to block dozens of people because of the creepy texts and sexual conversations.

Personally I haven't found any stuff like that so I'm in the same page, but I wanted to reply so you know you're not alone!

@Booklover95 sorry for my late reply and thank you so much, really! (I suddenly caught cold last week so wasn't able to sit and use computer for some time)

What I was going to do recently is trying to use Facebook for this. Now it seems to be the largest social network, and there are a lot of groups. The only thing making me doubt is what Facebook make with our private space. For example, I don't like how Facebook offer me friendship with unpleasant people I don't want to meet anymore, with some of my colleauges and chiefs and so on). But if this is the only option...
