@Helpls

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I have struggled with weight my whole life as well. Have you tried talking to a nutrition/diet specialist? Or going to the gym? When I started going to the gym it really helped me. The gym gave me the feeling of control I was looking for withouth using food. Reaching out to people is always a good place to start. You've done that with this post to start.. keep going. You'll get there. Good luck.

@Helpls you're stuck in a vicous cycle and it's not your fault. You're feeling depressed so it's causing you to eat more and more, plus eating unhealthy foods, specifically sugar causes your body to crave more sugar. Sugar is the WORST things for our bodies and is just as addictive as drugs are. The unhealthy food is what's causing you to eat more. You're focusing entirely on food, when what you need to focus on is changing your mindset and relationship with food. I know it's hard to start eating healthy... I mean, I have a choice right now... do I want a burrito or an orange? Well of course I want the damn burrito, come on! However, I know how the burrito will make me feel and I know how the orange will make me feel. The thing that helped me the most was learning about food and the affects it has on our bodies. Food is literally fuel and medicine. It's gas for your body and your body will function accordningly to the type of gas you put in it. Don't like the taste of good food? That's ok... luckily your taste buds CHANGE! If you stop eating cake for 3 months, I guarantee you that when you taste it again, you'll be like... holy crap that is SWEET. I can't even handle cake anymore, it just makes me sick. Food is not the enemy, it's the way we view food that needs to change. Counting calories helps as long as you're not sucked in by thinking less and less calories is the way to go. A good general rule of thumb for a woman is about 1800-2000 a day. Never ever will you need a low calorie diet as low as say 1200 calories. When you don't eat what your body needs, it goes into starvation mode and holds onto the fat that you do have because it has no idea when it will be fed proper nutrients again! For example, a lot of people start to lose weight but then they hit a plateau and stop losing weight.. until they UP their calories. When you exercise and build muscle, you need more calories. Muscle burns more calories than fat, speeds up your metabolism. I would recommend starting a food journal, not just to track what you're eating but to write about how what you're eating makes you feel. How did you feel after binge eating? How did you feel after you after a healthy meal? Also know, change doesn't happen over night. This is going to take time and hard work, but I promise you it is worth it.

@Helpls

I have been through the exact same thing 11 years ago. I am still struggling with over eating and low self esteem, but I have made some huge progress and Im almost at my ideal weight. From my experience what has helped me is positive self help books, exercise (which i know is hard to do at first) and keeping busy with future plans, something to look forward to, can be like travelling or studies. After starving myself I started to eat a lot and fell into deep depression. Antidepressants gave me strength to come out of it and enabled me to start applying the methods mentioned above. Also now I have a baby and he keeps me so busy that i just dont have the luxury to binge all day anymore :D Hugs !!!!

I binge too 😞I wish I had the answer. Sometimes I'm able to b good for a few days but I always end up doing it again. My only advice is stock up on healthy snacks and stop buying the trigger foods. For me crackers will b gone in one sitting.. that's why I don't buy chips or cookies. If I do I get healthy versions like kale chips. Anyway. Best of luck and I hope this forum helps me control myself too!
