Hello,

I have been since ever struggling with food. I don't know if its the fact that i am addicted to food or that compulsively eat because of loneliness boredom. I am a bit overweight you would still say i look okay but the thing is that my family is a thin family and i am the only fat one if I can say and I feel somehow ashamed that i can't find the will to stop. I tried several times but it didn't last more than a week and then I start overeating again. I find real comfort in food and feel like I won't ever get rid of it...

Because of this i don't feel well in my body and I can't see myself with anything else than long sleeves and long trousers.

I will try to start again eating normal portions and healthier and exercise more often so if you could give me an advise or even share your story that would be great.

I know exactly how you feel!!! Its like you described my own relationship with food. I cant exactly give you advice because I have the same problems, but I was looking for an online support group ( you know, people I can talk to who have the same problems I do)

From what I understand, eating disorders typically have a deeper psychological root cause, and in fact therapy is an effective solution. However many of us cant get a psychologist or arent comfortable with the idea. The latter is definitely my case!

It would be my pleasure to listen to you if you also promise to listen to me - I really want to kick this self-destructive habit which I feel is really slowing me down!!! (I love sports and am not so bad at them, but with my constant eating I have gained a substantial amount of bad weight (fat gain, muscle loss) and its getting more and more difficult to practice them.. I cant tell if my low self confidence is the cause or a symptom of my food issues!!!

I realize at this point that my message is all over the place, but the point is this: I need someone with whom I can talk about food and confidence related issues in order to change my bad habits for good. Im tired of always feeling guilty about eating. I really feel like Ive let this get out of hand all my teenage years and have never really let my self confidence grow, and at this point Im not going to simply grow out of it. I need to be proactive about this. It seems to me that youre in the same situation. I think we could help each other out. What do you think?

Hey there :) First of all I see you have alot of pressure. Mostly pressure because this is what emotional eating does, is a super fast yet temporary way to fix our feelings. Well not even fix, more like avoid/cope with that.

I'll summarise my story and maybe will help like you said. From 15 to 20 years old I binged. Didn't matter what I felt. Happy, sad, depressed, angry, frustrated, everything I felt I dealt with food. Didn't help my family called me fat instead of constructive advice how to handle stuff.

Now key word here: depression. Sadly where I live there's a big stigma in mental health so only when I was 20 I was diagnosed with anxiety, IBS (which is also linked to anxiety) and later on depression aswell.

I didn't know what I was doing but I was dealing with mental illness with food.

Now in your case the trick here is you finding the cause. Mental illness? Maybe something family wise? Friends? or maybe school/work? You need to figure out the reason why. Because when you do you'll realise is ilogical fixing feelings with food. Is very toxic to your body and mind.

I recommend you to try to seek a therapist in case you don't know what is causing this.

I promise you there's solutions much much better than binge eating. There's solutions and there's a happy life waiting for you :)

Best of luck!

Hey beautiful, no one shoul dbe judged on their body shape or body apperance ever, learn how to own what you have and realize that you were gifted this amazing body. Treat it well, energize it and make it happy and healthy. What have you tried to eliminate this habit? Would you call it a habit? I think you should definitly come and leave me a message. We can make a plan together to get you out of this stage.

As far as my story goes, I was someone who used to eat and eat, i started gaining a bit of weight and realized when my family got a pool that I felt very uncomfortable in my body and how people saw me. I then started eating close to nothing. It was only when my parents made me come eat dinner. It got to the point where i was rushed to my doctors from a sever rib injury. My inner costal muscles were straiing and becoming weak and thin, my doctors took so uch blood, found out i was ron and B12 deficient and thats when everyine realized I wasnt eating. So basically ive been on this long path. But im finally starting to feel happy with my body which isnt something I thought i was going to be able to get to for awhile.

hugs and kisses!!

Also struggling with severe emotional eating binges lately. Is there a sponsor program available that anyone recommends? Like they would do in AA or NA?
