Feeling judged for eating
I’ve always been on the chubby side but since lockdown and isolation periods, I’ve gained enough weight to say that I am overweight. I walk with a crutch and have chronic pain so keeping up an exercise routine is difficult. I struggle with anxiety and have realised that I have started stress eating. In a few weeks I am moving to a new flat and it has a gym in the complex so I’m excited to try to exercise more. The issue is that I have moved out of my uni flat back into my parents house for a few weeks with my parents, sister and baby niece. I now feel judged for everything I eat. My mum knows I am trying to eat weight and I think she’s trying to help but sometimes one biscuit is okay, but I feel the judgement. My dad is a feeder so it’s difficult to be around so many different foods, when I lived on my own it was easier to control what I had access to. My sister is the worst, she’ll always make comments about what I eat or don’t eat but will then go and do the exact same thing later, and god forbid I make any kind of comment. I feel bad enough about what I eat anyway and this pressure and judgement from my family just seems to be making a tough time even worse. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach talking to them about the comments, I’ve told them I don’t like the comments but it’s always refuted with a ‘I’m just trying to help”. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for letting me vent. A.
@AB245 Tell them to shut up, and that their "helping" is not helping you. It's not their business.
