to whoever is reading this, hi!!
so i’m a teen and i suffer from binge eating. i think it has something to do with the fact that i have mild depression, but i could be wrong. ive always been a little bigger, and that hasn’t bothered me until the last year or so. i wouldn’t call myself overweight, im just not as skinny as others my age, especially these last few months. it only started to matter to me when i overheard a convo that i probably would’ve been better off not hearing between my parents. they were talking about how much weight ive gained and how i need to eat better. ( im not asking for sympathy or attention here, js telling yall why i think it started) from that day on i havent slept very well and all i do is eat. i do play a sport, but that isn’t even fun anymore. and my anxiety is really high right now because all i can think about is the fact that it’s almost summer and im not comfortable in my own skin.
does anybody have any tips or advice to help me not binge eat? i don’t want to starve myself, but it’s starting to feel like that’s the only option. please send help!!
@girlonline1816 sofia Silva is a great influencer on youtube who talks openly about her journey with binge eating so id recommend watching her videos. I myself dont have experience with this, so sorry bc im probably not who you want to hear from on this. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about it? Sending hugs ❤️

Hi, I have similar experience with you where I didn't let the eating or weight bother me until at some point I was made aware of how my appearance is perceived by others. It sounds like the binge eating you are experiencing is from anxiety, the fear of being rejected by your parents, which makes you more anxious and lead to more binge eating. Have you considered talking to your parents about what you are going through? Maybe that will help ease the anxiety, knowing that they love you regardless of your size, and that the conversation you overheard was just them worrying about your health?
Hi! I have binge eating disorder. I have been to multiple treatment facilities and learned a lot of coping skills. Are you in therapy? Thats one thing that I wish I hadn’t committed to done when I was a teenager. I am 38 years old now and just getting my eating disorder under control. Also, a dietitian is great to see as well! Good luck!
@turquoiseBanana4223 Hi, do you mind sharing some approaches that you took to have it under control? It would be very helpful. Thank you 😊

hey! I’m so sorry you have to go through all this.
i’ve had similar experiences to you and I’m sure you’ve heard this already but what’s worked really worked for me is two things.
number one, is to try your very hardest to let the cravings pass, I know their re occurring, and that their intensity differs on a day to day basis but they do pass, after only typically a few minutes. Occupying your mind or just sitting still is what sometimes get me through them.
Though, sometimes, you can’t just let them pass and so number 2, for me, would be acknowledging what your craving, understanding if you’re actually hungry and rationally deciding that, if you’re going eat, you’re in control of it. If it’s for snacks I’d recommend having any lower calorie, higher volume things in your house, that you know still satisfy what you’re feeling, but will take you a little longer to eat.
at the end of the day, you know you best, and I wish you the bestest of luck with all of this, I know it’s hard, but I believe in you!💖
