Helpful advice and affecting positive change in daily habits

Brief personal background: I have been struggling with b/p and restrictive eating habits on and off for 12 years now (which, yikes I know). It started as something that I did for a few months as a 13-14 year old to lose weight quickly and was the subconscious crutch that I immediately reverted to at the start of the pandemic. I was able to curb it, but then was back in full swing as a result of stress and isolation. Currently, I am training to become a medical professional, so stress is abundant, and triggers are everywhere. Recently, I've made some progress, and I want to share what my personal habit changes have been. AND WELCOME ANY AND ALL CONTRIBUTIONS!

1) Self-therapizing daily and prioritizing my mental health (yes, yes easily said). There is a pdf available online if you google IFD self-therapy. (Please also get an actual therapist if your occupation, culture, budget, etc. permits!) Also, mental health podcasts! Being Well is great, and I highly recommend. Daily journaling for at least a minute (I'm counting this as today's).

2) Changing distracting habits while eating. I am a huge Netflix and binge gal. It's been my #1 coping mechanism throughout the pandemic. As of two weeks ago, I've been listening to language podcasts, fun podcasts, actually studying while I eat, which isn't truly mindful eating-- but we're working our way up to that. Not only has it made me more aware, I feel better. Am I still b/ping? Yes, but it's getting less and less extreme.

3) Seeking out opportunities to engage meaningfully with others during mealtimes. Super vague and scary and really hard to do, but I went as far as getting a parttime job.

4) Supplements and nutrition. Obviously, super hard to maintain adequate nutrition when I abuse my beautiful GI system on a daily basis-- but I've been sure to give my brain, bones, muscles, heart, kidneys, etc. a little respite with a perfectly balanced (for me) supplement regimen. I feel better, and when I feel better, I can concentrate more of my effort on making progress little by little.

5) Cannabis/hemp products. Easily the most controversial, but I will die on this hill. Hemp and cannabis have helped me sleep, ease anxiety, be more mindful while eating, etc. Contraindicated if you get really bad munchies when you imbibe!!! If you do, stick with hemp products that have very low THC.

These are a few of my most recent wins. I'm new to this platform, but I can't wait to engage with some of you, and hype you up about your wins as well. No win is too small!

@straightforwardKiwi5474 This was some amazing information and truly interesting topics. I think self-care is the most important thing and it is achieved with a combination of all the things you mentioned. It would be really useful for us to develop those better and get into them more in future posts. Thank you for the inspiring post!
