How to stop the vicious cycle of bingeing and purging

I am 24 and had bulimia for 6 years. I've gone to therapies and had my ups and downs. 5 months off the binge purge cycle, 2 on and so on. I just had one of those bad months and now is my second day of not bingeing and purgeing. Want to keep it that way this time, because life is SOO much better that way. Any tips and personal experience is very welcome.

Remeber the last thing you said, Life is better w/out binging &purging! I have been able to control my urges for alil or a year now and when i start to feel like its an option i write or think about all the ways my life is better now (compare).Do you know what triggers the emotions that lead you to binge? Knowing that and telling yourself or writing that binging wont change thing has helped me in the past. Also not allowing my self to purge or "tricking" myself into not allowing my self to purge (takes alot of will power but if you can do it it might take the "joy" out of it). Plus not buying "trigger" food & keep other things that you will binge on sealed in a plastic bag or clip/rubber band.

I always need other options to deal with my urges reading writing coloring a page in a coloring book going for a walk, video game, orginzingmy bedroom. Something away from the kitchen or with other people

Good luck and be strong <3

Wow, congrats for being so good to yourself for over a year now. Wish i could say this to myself next december😊. Another thing that has helped me is focusing my attention on some engaging behaviour( dishwashing could easily be it if i'm in it with my full attention).

I also agree that bulimics/past bulimics have to work with their surroundings. No need to gather binge foods especially in the beginning.

I think its not only willpower its also the skills like coping with emotions. Comparing seems like a good tip and i'll surely try it
