Mental Health and Eating Disorders - Day 6!
Hey everyone!! This is day 6 of the mental health and eating disorders forum discussion
As always, you're completely welcome and encouraged to chime in! If needed, there's always a lovely group of Listeners you can connect to via Browse Listeners, and I'm as well open to support any teens needing support
For today's question, How do you think eating disorders can affect your mental well-being?
Once you have an ED its all you think about. The whole day is spent thinking about food or situations involving food. Everyday theres a battlefield in your mind between what other people say is true, what you say is true and what the ED says is true. I don't remember what life is like without an ED but people tell me its true freedom. Mental wellness is negatively altered by the ED and although ED tells you its normal it is not how life is supposed to be.

That's definitely a struggle, unfortunately
It's hard to truly conquer/overcome/recover from an ED because it takes over your eating, and that in turn takes over so much more. I think that's also what makes people with ED's warriors because to live with that little voice can be quite daunting and it's hard to tell it to shush
That voice of an ED may want to return many times but eventually it'll give up or you'll have the courage to ignore it - and that's when recovery can start to happen
My parents are both cooks and my brother has an eating disorder and is in recovery, so food is all over the house. It smell like food and it it talked about all the time.
