Hey guys! My apologizes I've been a little busy with work lately so this is a bit delayed but I'm back now smiley

For today's question, how possible do you think it is to recover from Anorexia? Please give reasons to support your answer.

@Emily619

I think the only way of overcoming anorexia is to learn true self-love, compassion, and forgiveness and I KNOW these are things we are able to teach ourselves. Do they take a lot of practice? Of course. Lots. Tons. Even years. But eventually, you can train your brain to behave a certain way (just how we've trained it to be self-destructive, negative, etc.).

However; I don't think the "ED brain" every goes away. I think there will still be times where we catch ourselves counting calories, thinking negatively about ourselves and our bodies, feeling the urge to skip meals or binge and purge. Even after years in recovery, I think these thoughts still come and go, especially during stressful times. What changes is how we deal with them. Just recognizing them as ED thoughts and then simply "ignoring" or coping in other, healthier ways, is how we overcome anorexia.

Think recovering from anorexia is a long process and may have any relapses before being recovered more stable. And i think being recovered may mean they never get an eating disoder thought or do but not as much and learn how to cope with it - with coping mechanism so doesn't affect them much And with treatment can help . And support from family and friends. & once realise the desire to be thin won't bring them happiness will make it is easier. But takes a while and isn't straight forward.
