Autism, ibs and rapidly loosing weight

I have autism. I also have an aversion to most foods. When I eat almost anything, out of the few but varied foods that I do like, it causes bloating, severe stomach pains and constipation for up to three days (sorry, tmi). It is especially bad with fruit or vegetables, as well as meat. Like I said, hardly anything. The only thing that I can do, without using a laxative, is eat less or nothing at all. I probably eat less than [edited by 24Help1 for calories] calories worth of food a day. The physical pain just isn't worth it. Don't know what else to do.

HI 438seanq,

Have you been diagnosed? Have you been under any kind of treatment?

@Traveller8 Yes, I have been diagnosed with asd. I have received no treatment besides medication for depression and anxiety. I have been referred to cognitive behavioural therapy. This has been postponed, probably due to current covid-19 situation. There's not much anyone can do about that.

@438seanq hi! I was recently diagnosed with ibs. I've had stomach problems my entire life and never had a good relationship with food. I mostly struggled with weight gain as a kid and was always super skinny for my height. I totally understand what you're going through because stomach pain is not fun. A few weeks ago I started the fodmap diet which is an elimination diet for people with ibs to find your trigger foods. Although I haven't seen much difference in my pain yet, I really recommend that you look into this. It's helped so many people and it might help you too!! Let me know if you ever need too talk xoxoxo
