Do I have an ED?

I am a teen girl and I fear gaining weight. I weigh myself everyday to make sure I don’t gain weight. I have been losing weight lately and I have created a habit to track calories and not go over 800 calories a day. I am always concerned about food and make sure that I eat less than everyone around me. I think and worry way too much about food and want to go back to how I used to be with food. What do I do?

What's your BMI? If it's below normal, it could be anorexia. It's better to address it now , before it gets out of control.

Your BMI doesn't necessarily determine whether you have an ED or not. Someone overweight can be dealing with anorexia nervosa, while someone underweight could deal with binge eating. I think a toxic ideology and stereotype surrounded eating disorders is that you need to have a certain body in order to be valid, which is very untrue.

Now saying that: you don't need to be diagnosed with a specific ED in order to experienced disordered eating. if you feel like you may be experiencing thoughts that lead you to believe you might be dealing with disordered eating, i strongly suggest you reach out to someone in real life, if possible- whether that be a guardian/doctor/teacher/an adult you trust- catching it early is always extremely beneficial and important. Finally, It takes a lot of bravery and courage to admit that you might have an issue so I'm very proud of you for taking that step. I hope you're able to figure this out soon.

All the best.

I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. I'm overweight with emotional eating and interpreted this with my own personal bias.
