Fattening up

Hi

So I'm a bit concerned, for the past year or so I put on a little weight and found that I liked it, so I have been gaining weight obsessively for a year and have made myself fat enough that I have an overhang with my belly. I can't stop eating because a part of me wants to get bigger but another part of me knows this is wrong and I should stop doing it!

People comment on my weight gain and I get all embarrassed and don't know what to say to them. I figured I may have an eating disorder so I came here.

Hello @rationalWatermelon5117,

I want to applaud you for seeking support today; I imagine it was very hard, considering you mentioned feeling embarrassed about it, so allowing yourself to be vulnerable in this way is a big step you took for yourself. From what I've noticed, when people think of an eating disorder, they think of ones that involve restrictive eating (anorexia, ARFID, etc.), and thus forget the fact that not all eating disorders involve restrictive eating. This does not make your possible disorder any less valid than anyone else's. I imagine it's also difficult with the constant conflict in your head telling you that it's wrong, how confusing that must be for you. I am here to support you through this. You are not alone. <3
