This is a book that was recommended to me by a dietician that I went to see. I initially went to see her about getting some recipe ideas for snacks at work and quick meals that would be healthy and require minimal prep as I have Major Depression and sometimes have no ability to make food for myself.

Over the course of the meeting, I ended up confiding in her that I struggle with anorexic ideation and wanting to starve myself, that I have a lot of body image issues. She recommended me check out this novel and I'm on chapter 3 so far.

It's painful, but in a good way. It says things I wish I had heard sooner. I've been highlighting passages I see myself in to talk with my therapist about later. I highly, highly recommend people take a look at this novel even if it can be painful to swallow at times.

@delicateFriend79

Thank you!

I'm almost 3/4 of the way through it and have already begun to see improvements in my ED ideation and health. Even if I've only lost 2.5 pounds physically, the emotional weight it's taken off me has made me feel so much better. I see my new dietician for the first time tomorrow afternoon and she's excited to see that the HAES approach is working for me. I wish more people knew about this and could see what a difference it makes when you improve your relationship with food for yourself, not for the scale or your doctor's opinion of you.
