TW: implied ed??

So for a whole year I was online (last year) and my parents made me rly self conscious of my weight. I’m overweight. So when school started, (I went in person this year) I started using school as a distraction from eating. Even tho I didn’t eat much my parents would still make comments about my weight. I would lose 10 pounds and my dad would tell me I gained 20. So I stopped eating all together. I only ate dinner or we had to eat as a family, and just a little snack (like a banana, half an apple) a few times a month so I wouldn’t faint and nobody would stop me. I can’t even eat and not feel guilty about it. At times I just wanted to starve myself till I fainted. But if I did that then I would get in trouble. Is this normal? Am I being dramatic? Am I valid? I don’t want to make it look like I’m mocking other people… someone help. Please.

@FZeeR303 It must be really hard on you because it is your parents who said that and I think you should tell them that when they said that you feel offended so hopefully they will stop talking about your body images and you probably can talk to the school about your eating so they can make sure you are well 😊

Hopefully, you will be ok

@FZeeR303 I am so sorry that your parents have been making you self-conscious about your weight. That must be really hard. I also totally understand wanting to starve until you pass out. Restricting your food intake can be a very addicting thing that can give you control and comfort, but it can also take over your whole life. Honestly, for your ed or your possible ed, (i am not a professional so i can't diagnose you) you can never do enough to satisfy it. For example, it starts with maybe skipping a meal, and that feels so rewarding that you want to lose a lot of weight. Then, you feel like you need to eat less and less until your heart rate gets low or your hair falls out or you pass out. Even though it seems like once you reach a certain point you will be valid or pretty or whatever you want, it will never be enough. So despite what your ed tells you, you are valid no matter how long you have been struggling, the symptoms you have, or the behaviors you are dealing with. YOU ARE VALID! I am also so incredibly proud of you for asking for help and please feel free to privately message me if you would like more help or if you need anything. I would be happy to teach you some things that I have learned during my ed recovery. I wish the best for you <3

I am sorry your parents are treating you that way. I highly recommend reading “the body is not an apology”.

Hey, of course you are valid. I'm no expert but I was anorexic. And everything your saying sounds like an eating disorder to me. If your purposely starving yourself in order to lose weight and can't eat without feeling guilty then these are all sighns of disordered eating. Wanting to starve yourself to the point of fainting is disordered eating behaviour. You are not being dramatic, or mocking other people. You don't deserve to feel this way and pehapse you could try reaching out to someone to get some help about this xxx

I kind of feel the same way. I just eat when my family is eating together and so that they don't notice it. I'm not really keeping track of my weight but I relate to a lot of what you're saying.

You're not mocking anyone, no one's the same. You are special in your own way, and as is everyone else. You're valid and amazing.

Keep going, try to eat a bit tho. Maybe start by eating a little bit each day, just a little snack and then add a little bit to it and continue progressively.

You've got this🥰
