Never diagnosed but struggling

Hey all, my name is Scorpius and while I've never been diagnosed with an eating disorder I find myself having anorexia-like tendencies and having a very bad relationship with food. I loathe holidays that revolve around food, I skip meals if I can, I feel guilty or fat after eating.

In the course of addressing my depression and self-worth, this seems to be an issue I'm having a lot of trouble with and was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to have a better reltionship with food and beating the food=fat mentality.

Good for your for reaching out! I am so glad you are here! You are already doing the hardest part--recognizing that you are having some unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. Recognizing this is one of the biggest challenges. Don't lose sight of that. Because here's the thing--these types of thoughts can be kind of addictive, and the further you get into them, the harder it will be to see the truth...like, that fat does not equal bad, or that food is ok (and you need it). It sounds like, to some extent, the skipping meals may be serving a purpose. Ask yourself honestly what the thoughts that tell you to not eat are promising you...are they promising beauty? Are they promising success? An escape from a difficult situation or feeling? Now, ask yourself if there truly is a link there...will skipping meals make you happy? Maybe in the short-term, but at what cost? What are youu potentially losing by engaging in these behaviors? You have to look at both the pros and cons...and be super open and honest with yourself! Again, I am so glad you are here...keep coming back for more support! This is a great place to ask these kinds of questions.
