Hey there, ED-Warriors!

When I is replaced by We, Illness becomes Wellness – We are a community, when we work on things together we can turn illness into wellness.

Happy to have you click on this thread. Last week, we started our new series of Weekly Journal topics, and I am happy to say, I was encouraged by the positive response from the community to keep going and remain consistent with giving out the best support I am able to provide.

If you havent seen the first edition, I would suggest you make your way there, and check it out! Write a ‘Goodbye letter to your eating disorder. For those sticking around, I thought it would be nice to share a bit before we jump into the journal topic. We'd like to hear from YOU.

Are there any journal prompts themes youd like to see next week? (e.x Body image, self-forgiveness, gratitude, self-care etc.)

This weeks journal topic is down below, feel free to reflect on it throughout the week, and let us know how it goes! I would encourage you to make a specific journal just for these weekly journal topics, personalize it! Jazz it up a bit, make it YOURS.

Write about what your life would look like without an eating disorder.

Some may fear recovery, personally I feared recovery so much so that I would feel an intense sensation of anxiety when I thought about it. Eating disorders come with a lot of things, some may experience strong emotions after eating, that inner voice that beats you up before you eat and makes you feel guilty afterward, that's your worst enemy. Its woven so deeply into your mind that it becomes a natural response. Some may have struggled with isolation, and pushing people away, Every struggle is subjective to each individual.

I found that reflecting about how different my life would be without the eating disorder was a big step to tackling the fear of recovery. Give it a try, see if you can put yourself in an ED-free mindset, ,and try and answer these questions open and honestly.

How would meals be different?

Would you have more self-confidence or be less depressed and/or anxious?

How would relationships be different?

Would you have more time for hobbies and other enjoyable activities?

Would you feel better physically?

Is there anything you couldnt do in life because your ED became an obstacle?

How would you feel about "life" in general?

Would your thoughts be occupied with what you ate/ How much you ate/ How much you weigh or such thoughts?

Allow yourself to dream a little about an ED-free life.

Happy Journaling!

My life would be entirely different without my ED (maybe that's why I'm a bit scared of recovery). There would've been a lot less crying over a simple meal. A visit to the supermarket wouldn't stress me out. I could put suncream on without worrying about it being so greasy. I'd have energy to do so many more things, and maybe I wouldn't be so breakable?
