am I really recovering?

last year i went through an ed, well, I had very bad habits. I wouldn’t eat past 6/7 PM bc “that makes you fat” even though I was really hungry, I would allow myself to have some yogurt but I couldn’t have anything until lunch even if I was hungry. But if I skipped breakfast, I was so proud. I went crazy when I couldn’t find out the calories in something, all things like that. I recently opened up about this with friends, I’m so happy. That’s a really big step in my recovery, but am I really recovering? I still make time rules for myself and think and sometimes look at the calories in something. I want my healthy relationship with exercising and food back.

First of all, I'm really proud of you for choosing to recover even though it's difficult. That's a big step. I'm glad you told your friends. It sounds like that meant a lot to you so I hope they are supportive.

I can really relate to the way you described your eating disorder. I'm also recovering, but even though I'm eating "normally" I still feel weird about food/excercise. We may not ever fully go back to normal, but maybe normal doesn't have to be the goal. You are trying, you are doing something that is so difficult, I think you deserve more credit than you give yourself❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words, they mean a lot to me! Im sorry you have to go through an ed as well..but glad you’re also recovering. Maybe we won’t indeed go back to normal, but you’re right, that doesn’t have to be the goal. I’ve learned so much in recovery already and I try to use all my knowledge to help others. I wish you all the best and thanks again for the kind words. All the love💘

I'm so proud of you. I'm in my recovery too and it's not a straight line journey, there are times I check on my body and skipping meals and it's not easy to cut off the relationship, remember: slowly but surely. I believe in you.

Thank you so much. I know it’s hard, some days go well, others you feel so out of control. Checking on my body is still my biggest issue, it’s so hard. Thank you and I hope you’ll get through this as well❤️

@lauraaa1012 Recovery doesn't have to look a certain way. If you talk about it with someone, and try to do "better" then you can be recovering. If you eat a little more every week, that can be called recovery. I am trying the keto diet and someone is making me a diet plan, that's recovery for me smiley

Thank you so much! You’re totally right; it’s about all the steps you’re taking in your journey, even if those are baby steps. I wish you all the luck with your keto diet! ❤️
