My doctor is trying to tell me I have an eating disorder but i don't believe her I am only on a strict diet for dance ever since my dance teacher told me that I will never get far with a body like mine I I ever want to be professional I would have to lose alot of weight ever since she said that I have only been eating cotton I havent lost alot of weight but I want to its weird that I get so sad every time I look in the mirror I just want to be skinny but why is it so hard I know I don't have an eationg disorder in not skinny enough to have one btw this probs makes no sense
@kristal101 Kristal, unfortunately, I think your doctor is right. That does sound like an eating disorder. Making fun of your weight like that and only eating cotton are terrible things to do to yourself. If you're only eating cotton and you're making yourself feel awful about your weight, then you probably won't have enough energy to dance. Besides, only eating cotton for an extended period of time will probably do severe damage to your body. Please know that I'm just being open with you like this because I care about you, and I want you to do well.
@kristal101
I see you have some misconceptions in what you think constitutes as a eating disorder. You do not have to be a certain size in order to have a eating disorder and you don't need to appear sick in order to seek help or to need it. By the way, eating cotton is extremely dangerous and doing so could put your life in danger. The way you see your body (you mentioned you feel sad when you look in the mirror) is not healthy. I hate to say it but from what you wrote, I would agree that you have a possible eating disorder. I know right now you are in denial but your doctor is right. From how your dance instructor told you that "you would never get far with a body like yours" to how you see yourself when you look in the mirror, is leading you on a dark and dangerous path. I know this isn't the response you want to hear but please listen to your doctor. I care for your emotional and physical health and as hard as it is to see, you really do need help.
I'm going to link you with a few articles with what I mentioned in my response and I'm going to link you to our self-help guide on eating disorders. I truly hope things get better...
Take care and if you ever need to talk to someone, my PM box is open
