I'm slowly recovering from an eating disorder and I cannot gain weight no matter how much I try. I tried medication even but I couldn't handle the side effects. Any advice?

Hey,

I think its awesome that you are being in recovery and so you managed to make a decision and chose to live and take responsibility, which deserves to be acknowledged since I can imagine that it must be exhausting and devastating for the mind and the body to suffer from this condition. And I also think that developing an eating disorder and getting to its peak and rock bottom and so on didnt happen in a few days, so I guess its of course frustrating but rather normal that your body and mind are in a process of slowly adjusting to your new choices and behavior. You must have had enough pressure on you during the period of being focused on controlling your food intake, maybe now is the time to allow yourself to be as you are without the urge to change radically and immediately. I think patience is a mindset that requires trust, and it can be difficult to trust, but time is a really trustworthy fella because it has never stopped but it will definitely take you forward and towards your goals in recovery. Im not sure if body weight which you can measure accurately with an instrument is such a convincing indicator for getting well.

Maybe you could try to focus on something different the next two or three days and share your experiences with others, Im sure you could be really helpful to people who are still actively struggling. Just to forget the scale for a while.

I wish you all the best in your recovery!
