The ABC Activity
CONTEXT: I want to share my method to cope with bad habits and bad thoughts.
This is derived from the CBT Method from the book called "Feeling Good by David Burns." The CBT Method is worksheet with several columns which I find time-consuming after trying it. So I change it to something as quick and simple as ABC.
ABC METHOD:
A - Date and Time
B - Vent (I just write everything that's on my mind: the situation and the emotions).
C - Active Action (I don't respond try to my thoughts at the moment. Instead I do any active action instead of lying on my bed to mope. For ex, drinking a glass of water, taking a walk, etc.)
Letter C works for me because it pushes me to stop dwelling on the thought.
Last year, I did this method for 2 months DAILY with all of my bad thoughts throughout the day. But I have been very inconsistent with logging ever since.
INVITE: I want to restart this habit again by logging on this thread and I INVITE YOU to try this activity with me too. Write your ABCs on this thread for any stupid thought. It will only take 3 minutes or so.
RULES: Please do not respond to anyone's log. This will serve as a public dump of ABCs. That's all!
A - July 23, 2022 (2:59 PM)
B - Every second of this work feels this torture. I don't even know if it's even worth it or if it matters. I feel so shitty. Life is a pain.
C - I will keep working until it's done. Then I want to read a book with my friend.
