Being Okay with Quiet Room

February 19th, 2023

One of the major hurdles in feeling good about chatroom hosting is:

Dealing with Quiet Room.

If you are one of those who face/faced this challenge, here is a thought for you:

Being Okay with Quiet Room.

It's okay if room is quiet. We can only play our part. Send invitees for the event in other chatrooms (if no session is going on there), welcome when someone does enter the room, and most of all, smile.

No one is getting harmed by a quiet room. So it's okay. You may even work in a neighbor tab until someone comes in, sees your icebreaker question, and might jump in to respond! When a New Message flashes, come back to the room to smile even more!

If no one came in and you had to close the event, do give yourself a pat for having come to the room with the intent of hosting. It matters you know, and says a lot about your kind heartedness❤️

Best Regards,

Fristo

Oh, before I leave you, here is the final important thought: Quietness can actually work in your favor. In this busy world, moments of quietness could make you spend quality moments with yourself!

@Fristo

This post actually makes me feel better even if I have never hosted an event. Thanks, I hope others may also find it encouraging…

Thankyou

@Fristo

I love this so much! I faced a quiet room yesterday when I was hosting in DS. I did exactly as you suggest - leave an ice breaker in the chat, invite in other chats. It works so well! People join after time when they see there’s a discussion and it makes it a lot easier when there is already an ice breaker in chat to contribute to.

Thank you so much for these wonderful ideas Fristo, and for saying the last bit about not giving ourselves a hard time over having to end the discussion. It means a lot to know that it is okay, we still deserve a pat on the back for thinking and planning to host.
