language learning hobby
hi everyone!
i'm wondering, are any of you learning a language as a hobby? which one? and why?
language learning is my hobby. i haven't been able to do it for some time because school and other things got in the way. i want to get back on this hobby though, because lately i haven't been doing anything i enjoy (except watching tv).
anyways, i'd love to see if anyone else has the same hobby! also, this is my first thread (sorry if this has already been done recently), hope it's okay!
:)
I'm trying to learn Norwegian atm and also improving my French
@faron I have been trying to learn Spanish for about a year now. I think it’s a fun hobby to learn a new language but I always get stuck when it starts getting harder. Then, I switch to another language. I am also in the beginning stages of learning Hindi.
@caringLake8415 i can totally relate to that! it's hard to go from beginner to intermediate and that's where a lot of people get stuck/give up, me included (i've done it 5 times at least :,) ). it can help to lay out a plan and use multiple sources because it's easy to get bored if you're only using say duolingo, but then you can go study on anki or a grammar guide online or whatever. anyways have fun learning hindi!
@faron hey buddy! Language learning is really great to understand different cultures. It's a must for a person to know at least one language different from their' for sure. I love learning languages too...I was learning Spanish, but had to discontinue lol....
if anyone wants to know, a little update: i haven't been studying japanese much at all lately. :( i really really want to, but with school and mental health struggles it's really difficult to have time, energy, and motivation. when i have one i lack the others.
the thing is, i would absolutely love to know the language. i keep finding more and more reasons to learn it all the time - just yesterday i was looking through horror movies and found some interesting and very highly acclaimed j-horror films, for example, and i wish i could experience them without subtitles.
i currently have truckloads of overdue assignments and those are my priority right now (but i end up sitting around doing nothing most of the time because of depression making it hard to get stuff done).
I've learned Japanese, I want to get more prolific at that. I'd like to learn other languages~~~
@faron I have always wanted to learn Italian and Norwegian. Odd combo, but I have family from those areas and I just thought it would be cool.
@faron
Learning languages is super fun for me too! I'm not unusually talented at languages or anything, but I really enjoy the process. I'm currently learning Spanish as my third language! What about you? :D
Hello!
I want to learn Russian :) it's such a beautiful language to me! It's kinda familiar with my native one(Serbian).
I started to learn it a couple of months ago but then I stopped because of school, but I hope so on winter or summer break I'll start again.
What about you? What languages do you love? :D
