If you had a time machine....

If you had a time machine, would you go back in time to meet your ancestors, or forward in time to meet your descendents? Why? What would you do?

@zealousGrace5023

If I had a time machine, I think I would go to the future to meet my descendants. Not only would I want to meet them, but I'd be super curious to see how our world is and what the technology would be like!

@DepressedAnxiousDude81 wouldn't that mess with the timeline tho?

however medical advances would be really cool to see

@zealousGrace5023

This is a truly interesting question!!

I would say that given the generational trauma down both sides of my family line, I would move forward to meet my descendants--if only to be able to see for myself if those generational chains had been broken any further.

Although, secondarily, I wouldn't mind visiting some ancestors mainly to take in the sights and sounds of their time(s).

@sereneSunset26 That's an interesting take!

i guess i would also wanna know my impact in breaking generational trauma however i wanna go back thousands of years back to see how my culture was pre-collonialism and invasions

see who i'm related to

what impact they had

just observe and learn

@zealousGrace5023

I totally get what you mean.

I know it's been said that we can only go back in time, so to speak, through media, However, given my innate curiosity of just people in general, I would love to go back and see how things got started.

I think I would want to go forward and meet my descendants. I'm a very forward minded person and I think seeing how my descendants turn out in the future could give me a lot of insight then seeing my ancestors from the past.

I’d go back and spend even more time with my Mum.

I was with her most of my life but if I knew when our time was going to end I would have spent the night in bed beside her knowing it would have been our last night together. I was with her in the end but hate that I wasn’t with her every minute the lastnight she was here

@Margiewm its the hardest to help yourself when you're so used to helping others

i hope you figure it out and the feeling of loss never really goes away but it does get better
