Music as therapy--does anyone else do this?
Hey all,
I've noticed that, out of all my hobbies, that music seems to have like this direct emotional access to my brain.
I feel like I literally feel the music as much as I am listening to it - it's as far I'm going for a ride with the melody and the lyrics are what helps keep me on the road.
So yeah, I realize this analogy is kind of out there, and maybe even more than a little abstract. But because of this dynamic, I've been able to affect (and at times wholly change) my mood almost instantaneously with the right music. Case in point, music has been therapy for me.
Have any of you had similar experiences in your own way with music?
@sereneSunset26 I feel music very strongly and empathetically as well. It's the love of my life and keeps me sane. Definitely therapeutic as well haha
I have a recommendation if you'd like -
Loïc Nottet - Mr/Mme (Bruxelles) https://youtu.be/DS8Hkf_aOr4?list=RD_8WRTn0Lwf4
It was recommended by a friend to me today and it immediately was very touching
PS it is in french

Sounds like we definitely have something in common, haha! I find for myself that especially in the winter it helps me to navigate through any seasonal effects (less sunlight, more pain from arthritis, etc).
Will definitely take a look at your recommendation!
I have one for you as well:

I used to have a playlist with moods for different songs, like happy songs playlist, sad playlist, power songs, etc.
I can hear music without attaching emotions and completely change my perspective and emotional wavelength on what I’m listening. But I would recommend therapy over anything else.
Hi!
Yes, music is the most powerful thing I've ever encountered.
It heals me when I get to dance.
Thanks for sharing, here's one that helps me calm down

I would have to agree with you that music is the most (if not one of the most) powerful forces out there--especially for healing. This is confirmed to me every time I get busy with other stuff in my life and end up taking a bit of a break from listening to music. Because, when I inevitably get back to music, I always end up asking myself why I went so long without it.
@sereneSunset26
I can totally relate to that
