6/19/17 Frustration. Irritation. Impatience.

Didn't really do much today. Went to a cafe in Birmingham to do my honor group reading.

I wish I was out of school. And right now, I just wish I was somewhere other than my parent's house.

I got into it with my dad over the state of my room. yes, I spilled some coffee, and I have some laundry and other things lying around, but does that really merit any form of bitching? I never once go into your room and complain about. Oh right, I live for free under HIS roof, so I don't get a say in the matter. I just have to smile and say OK Dad.

I don't hate my parents for this. Far from it. I just get really irritated whenever they complain about my room or my habits. I'm not a neat freak, but I'm not a slob either. They always seem to bust a lung if my room isn't up to their expectations, whereas it fits my own.

I wish I had my own place. But from changing my major close to graduation, it set me back another year and a half. Not to mention I can only work 30 hours a week in the school to work program. I've been getting so sick of being bitched at for the smallest things, and so ancy to move out, I just can't seem to focus on the bigger picture.

I should be grateful for having food to eat and a place to stay and all the things they've given me. And yet I get so frustrated sometimes. Frustrated with the fact that my room, in reality, really isn't my room. Nor is my car. They were given to me.

First world problems, I guess. Random, pointless, rant.

Hi Nick! I'm sorry for the late reply. I'm interested in hearing how things are going now for you.

I can relate to a lot of your impatience and frustrations. I'm a post-secondary student as well. I go to a school far from home, so during the school year I don't live with my family. However, during the summer and other breaks, I live back home. I've found it very hard living back at home because some of the freedom's I've enjoyed at school are taken away from me when I'm home. I've combatted some of this frustration by enjoying my independence when I can, as much as I can. Also, making plans for when I do have that independence and freedom back has helped, because I feel like I'm working towards my goals, and seeing a clearer path to my goal helps. Is there anything that has helped you when you are overcome with frustration or irritation?

I hope that things improve for you at home. All the best!
