A weakling's 2022
I am a 19 years old student. I am not being able to cope with the fact that I couldn't clear jee last year and may not be able to clear it this year as well.
And I used to be a decent student in school. The anxiety is catching up to me. I have been constantly throwing up and breaking down into pathetic tears.
I guess this is the idea of a happy new year for my failure ass.
Today about some time back I thought to calm myself down I will play scribbles. It helped but just my luck, the other player was a fresher in IIT Mandi.
I mean what were the odds huh?
You will conquer your goals. I believe in you.
Oh same, my finals are coming up, and I can't even look at the materials because I have absolutely no motivation. Probably will fail the year. I chose a bit to go into engineering, but truth be told, I want to go into entertainment, I know for sure I won't fail there. I don't really know how to start though, how my family will react if I drop out... I'll do my finals and see how it goes.
It’s only in India that people worry so much about a damned school leaving exam.
Elsewhere in the world, people do what they love for the most part. You like rocks? Study geology. You like music? Study music.
Life is a marathon. Life gives you chances till you’re into your thirties.
Screw JEE. Start by asking yourself what subject you really like and what you’d really want to do with your life. Lots of non IIT engineers do better in life than their counterparts from even the traditional IITs.

Hey! I totally get your point but it kind of doesn't apply in my case because I have interest in none other field. This is my choice.
I would like to ask what made you think I want to join iit just for job opportunities?
Yes.. Many non-iitians live a life better than iitians. Just like so do many drop outs than the graduates (some are even billionaires).
But the life of an IITian is lived only by an IITian.
My goal is to have a degree from the best institute of India. I have a craze for the tag of an IITIAN and have failed miserably in my first attempt.
One of the listeners here tho told me that when one fails to achieve their goal, there sure will be the feeling of failure and jealousy (because you see someone living your dream live). Hence, I made the post because I was feeling very down after meeting the fresher from IIT.
Yes I know jee is not a matter of my life and death, tho it sure is the matter of life and death of my dream, my goal.
I hope that the misunderstanding has been cleared.

I know what you’re talking about
at this stage it hurts your ego, because you’ve bought into the myth that not IIT <> not intelligent, and you’ve always thought of yourself as being smart.
But sometimes being smart and being good at taking exams are not the same thing.
Like I said, life’s a marathon. If you actually like science, then listen to a podcast called The Life Scientific on Spotify (it’s a BBC programme). You’ll see that not every great scientist went to Cambridge.
If you don’t like science and were into the rat race just for your ego, then it’s a different story. It is also then, unfortunately, indias story. And the reason why the country remains backward.
IIT is not the end of the road. I’d rather hire a good engineer who can fabricate things than a guy who just wrote an exam well at the age of 17.
Didn't you just say that you wanted to go into entertainment instead?
To give you some perspective, I went into one of the top IITs many decades ago. And one of the top IIMs. I have had a good life, but so has my friend who went to an REC and then to Texas Austin. Or my friend who went to a Pune based institute and then to Purdue.
In the rest of the world, people go after their favourite subject and try to be good at it. In India, and in your peer group, there is an unhealthy obsession with the institute. The institute is only a stepping stone, nothing more.
