Too often you can find advice on how not too care. It's too dangerous how rarely anyone goes into detail about when to care and 'the right way' to care when it does happen.

I also know how it's difficult to sympathize w/ppl when it just seems that they are trying to be 'successful' to transition onto another state of inevitable misery.

When you realize how maybe one reason you liked science so much was b/c of the apparent consistency in being able to provide replies which could be useful, fruitful and always right' and the resultant attention. Not being able to accept yourself if you were not recieving that sort of attention for being able to do that '~' ..?.
