Envious

I envy the women who have children and immediately bounce back to their pre-pregnancy weight.

I am envious of women who are easily able to shed pounds without having to count calories or exercise daily.

I am envious of people who feel attractive regardless of their body type.

I just want these things for me. I hate looking in the mirror daily and only seeing the negative things about myself. I just want to love my body again.

@sensiblePenny4976 Hello! I completely understand where you are coming from. I have always struggled with my weight and my body image, and to be honest I still do.

I have always wanted to be skinnier, I hated my body when I ate junk, I hated my body when I counted calories, I hated my body when I was overweight and when I was skinny. And I'm starting to realise that my body was never the problem. I wish I could give you more advice on how to deal with this, but I think the first step is understanding that it's not an issue with your body, but an issue with how you perceive yourself.

You will notice things about the way you look that others won't, and you'll probably think that it's glaringly obvious, but most likely it isn't. It's normal to feel envy for people who seemingly have a perfect body or who love their body regardless of its imperfections, but chances are they are probably also struggling with their self image.

Just remember that the way you look does not decide your worth, you are worthy and beautiful and loved and you will get through this

@Reesenotgeese I get it. My partner says that he finds me attractive and wouldn't be with me if I wasn't and that helps a little but I know I don't look like his type and I feel like he settled for me if I am being honest. I just want to be skinny and feel attractive. I want to stop hating myself and how I look.

I was on a medication called Lamictal and they upped my dosage because my previous dosage wasn't helping and now my issues are much worse and they lowered me down again and are adding on a new medicine which can cause weight gain and I obviously don't want that but I guess if it makes me feel better mentally that can help with what I feel about my body.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. It means a lot and I wish you the best as well.

@sensiblePenny4976 I know the feeling, my partner says the same about me but for some reason I’m still insecure about it. I’ve also been put on two medications that cause weight gain, so I know the struggle.

But our bodies are just here to help us, they work incredibly hard to keep us alive and doing the things we love. My grandfather once told me, in one of my moments of disliking how I look, he said “being beautiful is wonderful, and you are beautiful. But if the world was blind, who would you impress?” And that has stuck with me ever since.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help, but that cheesy little quote has always helped me. It may be our appearance that people notice first, but it’s how we made them feel that they’ll remember

@Reesenotgeese I understand that and the quote is beautiful. He told me yesterday that I don't need to count calories and that it's just part of me having kids and getting older and that he loves me and all that. I just have a hard time believing it sometimes. I said he is only with me because he is stuck with me and he said if he wanted to leave he would have.
