Journal Prompt

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I wanted to try something new today. I wanted to post a journal prompt to see how everyone would feel about writing! I'm a big believer in that journaling can be a big coping mechanism, so I wanted to give it a shot!

Write how different you were 5 years ago. How did you change? What are you proud of yourself for achieving?

5 years ago, I was newly 18. I was a senior in high school and I was so excited to go to college soon! I knew where I was going to end up at that point and I decided to study biology! I felt so ready to leave high school and explore the world that is college. It's been a long time since that time and a lot of things have changed. What I didn't know at that time was my dog was going to pass away suddenly in 4 short months. That was one of the most difficult days and months afterwards of my life. I did get through it though and it has made me stronger, but I still miss her everyday. I am proud of myself for the strength and resiliency that I learned these past 5 years. I earned my degree and that was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I am still with my boyfriend and I am just really proud of where I was and where I am now. Life isn't always easy, but looking back, you realize how strong you are and that you can get through anything!

Just like you five years ago I was a senior in high school about to go into college. Looking back I'm in the same position a senior in college ready to move on to the next chapter of my life. I changed in a lot of ways but I think one of the best ways I worked on myself was challenging myself to be empathetic and practice a non-judgmental attitude. I'm very proud on far I came through that and that perhaps may be one of my greatest achievements today.

Congratulations on graduating this year! I love your goal and how far you've come with it! Being empathetic is such an important trait and I am glad you worked so hard on it! Thank you for replying!
