A happy woman
Besides all other factors in life
has generally got good men in her life - a good father, good brothers, good uncles etc etc etc
Does that mean when I was soaring my significant others and my male friends were superheroes?
So ladies next time you question the quality of your life assess the men in your life...
Because I can assure you after going to an all girls' school and living with mostly women for a greater portion of my life in a world still infected by patriarchal and fraternal poison
it's generally the men that cause the ruckus
The character of a good man is observed by the state of the women close to him.
Who he is in public will not be he is privately - the women who have lived or known him closely.
***cracking my knuckles***
let's start type something that has been bugging me the day I set foot on here
A trail from what I was saying before, take it at face value without reading into too much of anyone does on here but tbf this is just my space to write so let me start off with the man who crosses boundaries and got ripped to shreds because he did
"One day, while Actaeon was on his way to hunt, he stumbled upon the divine virgin Artemis, bathing naked in the woods of Orchomenos, surrounded by her Nymphs. Amazed by her beautiful body and divine grace, he couldn't help staring.
When Artemis became aware of this intrusion, she got furious and punished Actaeon by transforming him into a stag.
Actaeon became fearful and fled away, but his own hunting dogs, 50 in number, jumped on him and tore him to pieces and devoured him, thinking that he was a real stag."
So I came back to my home town to sort some stuff out but thanks to COVID things didn't go as I had hoped and I reluctantly ended up at my parents'.
I've got two younger brothers - one is out of town rn and the other lives with my mum and dad. There is a lot of baggage and family issues which I don't want to get into but that's for the future.
Anyway, I don't know what's going on so I get plodded in the study where I've been on the sofa for the past week sorting myself out. The atmosphere is unpleasant and unstable as ever so that's no surprise.
Now here is where this begins :-
I just had a bath. Or was having one and my dad just opens the door handle. The door was locked but the fact that he just thinks he can just open it makes me uncomfortable to the max. Why? Because you knock.
This goes back to the quality of a woman is equivalent to the men she is surrounded with right? I used to watch my dad just barge into my mum's room when he felt like it.
Right now, the lounge where I am in - my brother just barges in and because my mum has become unhinged by hanging out with these three she does exactly the same. She was banging violently when I was using the toilet upstairs and she was making the most grotesque gestures over a topic two days ago.
I'm a young woman, grown, independent, trying to make my way through life. Granted my things haven't been that great and ending up at my family home was the last thing I wanted but despite that privacy and boundaries around certain things between adults in any setting should remain intact no matter how bad tiffs are.
Openness is great, but there are lines between certain things. And maybe it is the culture and maybe it is the religion and maybe it is because I come from a sexist, misogynistic, unequal and woman disrespecting background that perhaps things like these happen
And because my dad just opens the door without thinking. Or because my brother just aggressively chucks my clothes and washing line. Or my mum decided to hysterically open the door because there is something missing in the lounge I block my door shut. I keep my distance. I feel sick talking to people like that.
So why should you get offended when this is a last resort ???
because the happiness of a woman equates to the men she surrounds herself with.
And if men think that feminism is not worthy for their way of living - they have one thing coming.
