Some thoughts. (Possible trigger warning. If you don't like reading about anything that has to do with suicide, don't read.)
I've always found it so deeply saddening how some people honestly believe that the only solution to their problems is to end their life. Ever since I can remember myself, I remember being just so sad over the fact that some people just put an end to it all. I remember wishing I could help all of them. Help pull them out of the rut, help make them feel better, help save their lives. And still to this day, I wish I could make a difference and save people. Which is one of the reasons I decided to become a listener here. I know what it's like having no one to talk to. Feeling so lost in your thoughts and feeling like you're going to explode. Sometimes, having someone to talk to could literally save a life. Sometimes that's all a person needs. To know that someone out there cares. To not feel so alone. Yes, it's true, the world doesn't revolve around you, or me, or anyone. But that doesn't mean that we're alone. There's always someone who's going to hear your story and care.
I've started thinking more about this lately, due to the death of popular singer Chester Bennington. I remember listening to Link Park when i was younger. I remember I had a friend who was obsessed with them. And I remember that all of his songs always had this rather sad undertone to them. Turns out, his demons won, and he couldn't take it anymore. And it's just so upsetting. I wasn't a hardcore fan at all. But the fact that so many people, famous or not, think suicide is a solution, makes me so upset.
The issue also hits closer to home for me, because someone I know is going through a lot. They were diagnosed with bipolar and had previously mentioned they felt suicidal. Even told me that, in case we never talk again, I should try to make myself as happy as I can, because I deserve it. I haven't heard from that person in a month now. I don't know whether they're still alive or not.
So please, if you or someone you know is considering suicide, call a hotline. Go to therapy. Seek help. Don't isolate yourself. People DO care. People are going to help you. It's not worth taking your life over something that won't matter in 10 years. Your life's a gift. Don't end it prematurely. No matter what stuggles you're going through, whether it is mental illness, a broken heart, or just unhappiness, please know that someone cares. Seek help.
