Stepping out
After many years of isolation, I feel it's time that I learn to start living again amidst the daily challenge of Bipolar Disorder.
This is going to be tough. I've lost almost all of my friend and I've been so sick that I don't even know how to have fun again. I use to. By nature I've always been a very social person. Now I feel like I'm having this whole identity crisis.
How do I get back out there? How do I meet people? How do I have fun? I have no idea. Two weeks ago I met this man. I haven't dated in 23 years. We have gone out once and he lives about 2 hours away from here. The distance is great, I have no problem with that. We talk on the phone he's can't wait to see me again. He says all these wonderful things about me and I have such a hard time saying thank you, I just get suspicious. It's crazy. I have never really dated because both my ex-husbands were very abusive and I guess I've lost trust and cocooned myself to stay safe. I have to remember not all men are bad, there are nice ones out there as well
Anyway, that's my issue for the day. I guess the good news is that I'm willing to get back out there and meet people. Not just men, I want to meet people in general. I want a group of friends. I want to just enjoy the life I have and stop concentrating on the illness. I'm tired of looking out at the world as it goes by.
Hello Skits:).Thank you for being so honest about the challenges you are facing at the moment.I think it is great you are willing to go out there and meet new people, but can see why the process would seem a like a change in identity , it must be really hard. That said I tend to believethat nothing worth having was ever gained easily.I am convinced you have the right attitude to approaching this situation , but please message me if you feel I could help in any way.Best of luck.
