TW - Incantations in Candlelight

Tonight, the moon hangs pale and sharp, like a silver blade pressed against the throat of the heavens. Its light spills through the narrow window, painting my chamber in cold illumination. The candle at my desk gutters as though reluctant to compete, its flame bending toward the drafts that whisper like voices through unseen cracks.

I lit the incense of wormwood and rose, and the air thickened with a perfume of sorrow. It curls about me, tendrils of smoke like spirits rising from the pages as I write. The herbs crackle faintly, as though remembering old fires and forgotten prayers.

Earlier, I traced the circle upon the floor—chalk, salt, and ash from last night’s dying flame. Within it I placed a single key, tarnished with age, and whispered the words that came to me in dreams. I do not know yet what door it seeks, but the key vibrated against the wood as though eager to reveal its secret.

Something stirs when I call to the unseen. The silence deepens, the shadows lean closer. My heart beats with a mingling of dread and ecstasy. Perhaps it is madness to find beauty in the chill of unseen eyes, but I feel less alone in this darkness than in the clamor of daylight.

If tonight’s spell takes root, perhaps tomorrow I will dream not of ruin, but of revelation. Until then, I keep vigil—between the sigh of the wind and the hush of the grave—waiting for the night to answer.

@ScorpiaD

🥺

💕💜

It can be comforting to remain in the silence,

In the shadows,

Unseen,

Unbothered,

Shining no lights on our fears,

Secrets,

Or vulnerabilities.

When we've known no other way 💜💕
