The Same Conversation
I have not been looking for love since October. I tried looking from March 2017 to October 2018, and I got a lot of ghosting, catfish, being stood up, and just one time dates. To be honest, after my ex cheated on me (and then I lost family and many friends to take care of him when he was sick, but that is another story,) I simply feel I need friends and to focus on myself.
I'm still trying to figure out why men keep trying to find me.
This is same conversation I get whether I am on a personal site or even facebook.
Him: Hey there, sweetheart. (The harmless yet vague flirt)
Me: Hi. How are you? (Because I am polite and kind.)
Him: I'm good. What are you doing? (They are trying to sound interested.)
Me: Working on writing or research (Or getting distracted by a random man I do not know. Now I looking up his facebook or profile page . . . not too much but random encouraging memes or work jokes or all of his interests are opposite of mine.)
Me: What exactly are you looking for? (I reply back as I am trying to get straight to the point and not waste anyone's time.)
Him: My wife died (cancer or car crash, are the two favorites). . . I am trying to move on and find love. I have (one to three ) kids as I feel they need a new mother in their life. (First of all, I am not the mothering type unless it's an independent pet like a cat. Secondly, it sounds very scamish, yes, I made up a new word. Thirdly I wish they would read my profile first.)
Me: Did you read my profile? (I ask which I know is a"No" because many sites will tell me who saw my profile.)
Him: Oh yes, we have so many common interests. (I know now he is probably just glancing at my page, maybe just looking at the pictures. Sigh.)
Me: What do we have in common? Because I am not into outdoors, you don't like to read, you are allergic to cats, and I do NOT want kids. (I do my research. His profile says he is older that I wish. I want friends closer to my age that I can hang out with. On my profile I list tons of things I am into and yet why cannot find anyone with similar interests?)
(On facebook, I would ask: Me: What is your age? as 80% of the time I keep getting guys my parents age. I have tried dating older guys, but they get stuck in their way, think that I am easy, which I'm not, or want some baby-sitter for their previous kids while they have affairs while "traveling" for work.)
It usually goes on for a while as I say: "I am not interested" in every way possible, including simply saying it. However they do not take "No," as an answer. It as if they cannot be rejected from a woman that they randomly messaged. So after a wasted hour, I usually block them.
This what I posted on my facebook page: I'm on facebook for three reasons: for those who know me; to know I am still alive, to create a writing network, and play yoworld (my escape). If you are single man seeking one thing or need a wife to take care of your kids, please seek else where. (And yet they rarely read this, sigh.)
I need reading and creative friends.
