Where Left Off
I often find that I like to start off as to where I left with people the next time I see them. However, I have realized that I don't allow for time to come in and change the dynamic of our connection. Realizing this has somewhat made me feel very sad. I like to leave off where we felt really connected but sometimes when I see the person again things just feel different. But I know that what we had is still there and that its not being shown.
"I often find that I like to start off as to where I left with people the next time I see them."
I think you intuitively understand that people aren't like books where we can just insert a bookmark and pick up where we leave off at the next encounter. The whole advantage of communicating with people is the dynamics of the dialog.
While it's nice to hope that our every experience will be wonderful and fulfilling, it's not a very realistic one. But, it's not justification for sadness, either.
The truth is, if everything is always the same - even if that very sameness is absolutely wonderful and terrific - then everything becomes one big bore. Contrasts of up and down, good and not so good, tasty and yucky, hot and cold, soft and hard, sharp and dull, sweet and sour, happy and sad, etc. make life exhilarating!
Don't hope for tedious, monotonous and repetitious. Yearn for surprises, innovations, epiphanies, variations, revelations and growth. That's what makes living tolerable if not worthwhile.
