my journal: various subjects, opinionating, CW at times
The title explains itself.
If you're interested in the ramblings of a middle-aged man with chronic conditions who, at times, sees things a little too clearly for his own good, then read on.
Sometimes I get political, but it won't be all the time.
I don't mind comments in general but if you're going to differ with what I write, that's fine--as long as you can explain your position clearly & reasonably. Rants, shouting & general incoherence will be ignored or flagged, depending on the situation. Try to remember that not everyone else in this world holds your beliefs.
Every so often I may post art or snapshots of projects I'm working on.
If you're still interested after reading all the above, great. (I do wonder at how much time you have on your hands, though)

Okay, who f**ked up the climate in this simulation & how do we reboot the whole thing?...I'm in Florida, fergodssake.
The ultimate horror is not any kind of evil. No...it's either chaos (amoral not immoral), or total indifference.
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference." Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor @slowdecline48
@bestVase7265 I know who Wiesel is (was), yeah... Didn't know he said that.
I think his argument above all is taking any horrific reality and fighting back against it, never becoming indifferent to it. It is a hard ask but an important one. I know I always feel better when I am fighting. @slowdecline48

"Then came the march past the victims. The two men were no longer alive. Their tongues were hanging out, swollen and bluish. But the third rope was still moving: the child, too light, was still breathing...
And so he remained for more than half an hour, lingering between life and death, writhing before our eyes.
And we were forced to look at him at close range. He was still alive when I passed him. His tongue was still red, his eyes not yet extinguished.
Behind me, I heard the same man asking:
"For God's sake, where is God?"
And from within me, I heard a voice answer:
"Where is He? This is where--hanging here from this gallows..."
..
That night, the soup tasted of corpses."
- Elie Wiesel, Night
Yes, Elie Wiesel was a brilliant man who went through a *** that would destroy most people...that he survived it was as much due to luck as it was to any decisions he or others made.
Out of that absolute horror, Wiesel became a witness & a moralist. He was a great writer & a fine example of what one man can do with all-consuming trauma...
I just wish I could agree with all his declarations. Unfortunately I don't share his hope for humanity. Perhaps Wiesel held fast to such hope because the alternative, for him, would've been too awful to contemplate.
I actually met him once. It was a handshake that I will never forget. It reverberated deep in my soul as he looked into my eyes. @slowdecline48
Ain't it a shame when a friendship doesn't work out... 😔
But, there are priorities & my top priority is me. I cannot compromise on that.
Every so often, I find it amazing that so many people don't get tired of existing. Pulling in & pushing out air, eating, working a job, sh*tting endlessly... How does the human race keep going?
Perhaps I'd understand it better if I found life pleasant. But it isn't...not in its essence.

At this time of year, decongestants &/or generic NyQuil are the 5th of the four basic food groups...
Sending some healing vibes and lemon tea...@slowdecline48
Hopefully, next week I'll get some stuff done &--

...I know I surely need some.
