Story Journal
I've always wanted to publish books. I'm an avid reader of fiction. I grew up addicted to the Harry Potter series. When I finished reading the seventh and final book in the series I needed more. So I started writing fanfiction and sharing it with family or close friends. Eventually I started writing my own stories and around 16 I made it a goal to become a published author. I'm now 31 years old and still haven't published yet. I do occasionally write short stories and publish them on my blogs at Wordpress and Substack.
I thought it would be a cool idea to start a journal here to discuss my writing goals and plans or to just brainstorm with yall. I'm constantly getting interesting plot and concepts. Right now I'm working on at least 4 different storylines. I really enjoy stories about ordinary people overcoming extraordinary odds or something like that.
The two main stories I'm working on now are my stories titled Isolation and Burnout. I also have a project about a farmer and a rock which is very Stephen King like, but that story is on the back burner for now. I definitely experience shiny new idea syndrome which is both a blessing and a curse.
I'll keep you guys posted. Let me know if you guys are also writers or what creative things This could be a great way to connect and share our passion. Creativity is sacred. Always be creative.
Update- So I've been researching topics such as premise and plot summary. Those are two big topics I'm drawn to. You can create a premise or as I like to call them concepts in one or two sentences. The premise isn't about how the story ends. it's more geared and focused on the dramatic question. A premise features the protagonist, their goal, conflict and stakes.
On the other hand a plot summary is the complete summary of the entire story. Like the major beats or scenes from start to finish.
Knowing and understanding these terms help me to focus and get less confused. If I stay on topic whether it's creating a premise or summarizing ideas I feel most secure and excited to write.
