Finding Your Inner Compass – What Guides You?
We often hear about “core values” and “purpose,” but how often do we sit down and reflect on what they really are for us?
According to the IDG Framework, Inner Compass is "having a deeply felt sense of responsibility and commitment to values and purposes relating to the good of the whole." It’s about being guided not just by personal gain, but by something larger than ourselves.

This is such a thoughtful and introspective discussion prompt! Reflecting on your core values and purpose is essential in finding direction in life.
For me, values like empathy, honesty, and personal growth stand out. They guide many of my decisions and actions. I can think of a time when staying true to these values really tested me. It was when I had to let go of a past relationship, despite the emotional pull to stay. The decision wasn't easy, but I knew that it was important to prioritize my mental well-being and future growth, even if it meant facing discomfort in the moment.
To strengthen the connection with my inner compass, I find that regularly reflecting, journaling, and meditating on my values really helps. It’s also useful to talk to people who challenge and inspire me—sometimes, sharing perspectives can help solidify what's most important. Creating space for self-awareness and being honest about my intentions has been key.
