Tahajjud is a volentory prayer offered after isha until fajr, but the the prayer is most powerful during the last third of the night as allah decends down to the lowest heaven!!!!

Narrated Abu Huraira:
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَغَرِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " يَتَنَزَّلُ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا حِينَ يَبْقَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الآخِرُ فَيَقُولُ مَنْ يَدْعُونِي فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ، مَنْ يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ، مَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ " .
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Every night when it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Superior, the Blessed, descends to the nearest heaven and says: Is there anyone to invoke Me that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone asking My forgiveness so that I may forgive him?. "
Duas made during tahajjud are said to be accepted mostly immediately bec of the fact that allah decends down to the lowest heaven!!!

This highlights how powerful the duas made during tahjjud are
Tahajjud is also said to be the best prayer after the obligatory prayers
Sahih Muslim 1163 a
“The most excellent fast after Ramadan is God's month. al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.”
How to pray tahajjud:
make niyyah for tahajjud
Pray in sequences of 2
Make dua during sujoodh or right before ending prayer or right after u end prayer
(U dont have to make dua obv)
Tahajjud has no limit onto how much u can pray it can either be 2 rakahs or even 200 rakahs but it has to be in sequences of 2!!(meaning after every two rakahs u have to give salam)
So i advise u if u ever wake up in the middle of the night pls pls pray tahajjud it really helpss and it makes uu wayy calmerrr especially when u finish prayer
Btw its also believed that u only pray tahajjud if u recieve a personal invitation from allah as u get up for it without an adhaan

Narrated 'Umar bin Al-Khattab:
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for.”
The same act can be rewarded or not depending on why you do it. Niyyah is what distinguishes between different acts (like Fajr vs Sunnah, or obligatory vs voluntary fasting), and it must be sincere for Allah alone, free from showing off. It also has a deeper role turning everyday actions like sleeping, working, or studying into worship if your intention is for Allah so it’s simple, internal, sincere, and it’s what gives your actions their true value.
