Dhul hijjah is one of 12 months in the Islamic calendar, and it is also among the 4 months that allah chose, in these four months good deeds have more reward and bad deeds have well more yk. Dhul hijjah is also known as the month of hajj. And the first ten days of dhul hijjah are said to be the best 10 days in the whole year and these 10 days are better then the last ten days or Ramadan. The best way to look at this is the best days are the first ten days of dhul hijjah and the best nights are the last ten nights of Ramadan.

The prophet encouraged to do more righteous deeds in these ten days as as the deeds are more beloved to allah in these ten days.
So people fast, do dhikr, pray more, read Quran, give in charity and make dua more and its more beloved and has a geater reward
And also dua is more likely to be accepted though it isn’t in a hadith but the dua on the 9th day of dhul hijjah in hadithed(will show soon)
The 9th day of dhul hijjah is called the day or arafah, if u fast on this day all ur sins from the previous year and these following year are erased (only the minor i believe)
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3585
“The best of supplication is the supplication of the Day of Arafah. And the best of what I and the Prophets before me have said is: None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the Praise, and He is powerful over all things. (Lā ilāha illallāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa alā kulli shai’in qadīr).’”
