Looking for Friends

User Profile: towngirl

I'm looking for some friends because I've been lonely lately and want to change that. I've finally gotten up the courage to go after my goal of having online friends. I've been wanting them for a while but was too scared to reach out because I'm shy and have social anxiety. I also have Autism so that affects the way I interact with people.

I like reading, drawing, and journaling (art, bullet, and tarot). What are your favorite things to draw? I love drawing vintage Barbies from the '60s to early '70s.

What do you like reading?

Remind me what bullet journaling is again? I know I used to do it, but I forgot lol

I like drawing wolves, origami animals, and more :)

I like reading V.C. Andrews and Jackie Collins books the most. I love complex characters and strong female characters like Lucky Santangelo. What do you like to read?

Bullet journaling is great because it can be whatever you want it to be. I use it to organize my thoughts and tasks. Plus, it's a lot easier to re-read bullet-point thoughts than the walls of text I used to write.

I like kids books and YA fiction, and non-fiction books about the Holocaust.

What’s the difference between bullet journaling and regular journaling?

Cool, what kind of kids' and YA books? I like reading Baby-Sitters Club books although I haven't in a while because I lost access to Hoopla. I also like reading YA fiction from time to time because some of my favorite books are in that genre. I like pretty much anything by Sarah Dessen, Lisi Harrison, and Sara Shepard.

Bullet journaling is more about using bullet points and symbols to plan, organize, and track tasks while regular journaling is usually more for free writing and capturing thoughts in paragraph/sentence form.

Well, I just finished reading The People of Sparks, which is the second book in the The City of Ember series. Today I finished What Katy Did, which was written in the 1800s. My favorite book is The Girl Who Owned a City :)

Have you tried Libby?

I’ve never heard of those authors. What have they written?

I love that <3

I love Libby for checking out books. Sara Shephard wrote the Pretty Little Liars series. Lisi Harrison wrote the Clique series. Sarah Dessen wrote Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, and Keeping the Moon.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Hey, I just wanted to check in. No pressure to respond if you’re not up for it—I just want you to know I’m thinking of you and hoping you're doing okay. I understand if you need space.

From Goodreads:

It’s February of 2014 in the seaport city of Sevastopol in Crimea. Sofiya Oleksandrivna only wants two things: to figure out a way to get Ilya Ilyich to stop bullying her, and to convince her mother to come back home. But as battleships come to populate the waters around their city and Russian forces, including Ilya’s father, start to make their presence known, an even greater threat takes over Sofiya’s life.

The only escape Sofiya has is the dolphinarium where her father is a trainer at the forefront of teaching sign language to a pod of dolphins. And now the Russian military has ordered the dolphinarium to hand over its animals for military use. As armed Russian troops invade Crimea and conflict and tension continue to rise, Sofiya will do everything she can to keep her pod safe. And what she knows better than any of the soldiers occupying her city, is that the most powerful force is communication.

Based on the true events of the 2014 annexation of Crimea.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Whoa, that sounds intense and really moving. I’ve never heard of a story set in Crimea during 2014, especially one involving dolphins and sign language.

My stepdad loved reading about the Holocaust. It rubbed off on me. I may have read his books, who knows…

@jesusredeemedme2425 Hey—I’ve been feeling a little emotionally overwhelmed and just need to go quiet for a bit. I really appreciate you messaging me, and it’s nothing personal—I just need to rest my brain for a while. Hope you understand!

Yeah, it seems like it's harder to make friends the older I get. I never really learned how to make friends, people just sort of adopted me as their friend when I was younger.
