Thread for me & @LoveMyMoonflowers
Am sittin' here wondering if I spelled your name right...
Also wondering how to start off. I'm not exactly a social butterfly. (How many Cupsians are social butterflies? I would guess not very many) Where are you? I'm in northeast Florida...it's okay, I guess. It has good things about it & drawbacks, like anywhere else.
@slowdecline48
Yay, you’ve spelt it right, don’t worry ^-^
Oof. i get that :/ conversations are hard to start. i actually have no idea where to start either so xD you’re not alone in that. i have an imaginary magical dictionary that is supposed to help with conversations. 📖 but it doesn’t really help 😛
i live in the Middle East 😅 and that’s certainly true, every country has its great things and not so great things lol 🤧 Idk how i feel about living here, honestly. it’s… okay. *shrug*
hmm i actually have no idea what to say 🤔
@LoveMyMoonflowers Are you kidding; living in the Middle East is a conversation starter all by itself!...especially lately. 😒
Do you mind if I ask which country you're in? What's it like there?...what is it really like? In the States we see/hear a lot from the news media. News sources do not provide perfect information, to put it mildly...they can be biased (the worst American examples are probably Fox News & MSNBC) & they all focus on tragic events. This is not new; prior to the Internet Era when there was a real newspaper industry, there was a saying among editors: "if it bleeds, it leads". The point is if there are happy things going on, news networks don't mention it to us. Thus my question "what is it really like".
As for me, I live in northeast Florida. Like anyplace, there are good & bad features about it. People can be very laid back here...it's good for relaxation, but not when you need to get something done on time.
Moonflowers, how are you?... Are you staying safe?
@slowdecline48
hello slow, i’m doing okay thank you (: how are you? ^-^
yes i’m staying safe - why? :o
Because you live somewhere in the world's great sandbox...a place where at least two parts of it are unquiet at any given time.
Sure it's true: Western news media can generate a distorted picture of the region, & often does. (Back in the days when we had real newspapers, a common maxim among editors was "if it bleeds, it leads.") Even so...
I remember the Arab Spring & what happened right after that. The only time Syria has ever been stable is under someone strong enough to control the entire country. Iraq was a police state under Saddam but at least everything was functional under him, more or less...our occupation didn't help, despite the hopes of some that we would help to bring about a democratic government there. Right now the Israelis & the Palestinians are completing the latest episode in the running conflict that's been going since at least the 1920's & probably long before that. And last time I checked, inflation in Lebanon & Egypt (& in which other countries there??) made the worst inflation we've recently had in the states--about 8%--look like a game of tiddlywinks. As a general rule, in times of great economic hardship civil unrest is often a consequence.
That's why I asked if you're safe.
As for me...eh. 😒 Right now it's allergy season in my part of the US. Am getting through it as best I can. I'm not getting enough things done but my conditions usually don't leave me much energy to work with. My creative work is at a dead halt.
@slowdecline48
‘in the world's great sandbox...a place where at least two parts of it are unquiet at any given time.’ you describe it well 🥲 it’s definitely a giant sandbox. a giant… hot… sandbox. lol.
ah yes :') the thing is i don’t live too close to israel/palestine and things are pretty calm in my country (i think - i really don’t read/watch much of the news) so yes… i’m safe.
eeeeeeee no allergies suck :') They are the worst. how long does this ‘allergy season’ last? :') i hope it’s not long. <3
i’m so sorry you haven’t been able to get many things done :( and that your creative work’s at a halt… is it like an art block? how do you usually deal with those?
In my area (southeastern United States), allergy season starts in early to mid-January & goes through March. When April rolls around, the trees, ragweed & other plants start to lower their pollen output...by May, it's pretty clear. It's also summertime.
Would've typed all that in Arabic but I don't know how, plus my computer does not have an Arabic font anywhere. 🤓
Thank you for the compliment. The Middle East ("Near East" or NENA are more accurate but most westerners don't know that) is one of my interests. I've been interested in its history for a while now, starting from the city-states of Sumer to the Israelite kingdom, the Assyrians, the Roman period, the rise & fall of the caliphates, etc.--the whole nine yards! The first time I learned how old the Pyramids of Giza are, it was mindblowing.
I don't have "creative block" other than my chronic conditions interfering. Can't really draw or do much else when you feel sick.
What are you doing this week?
@slowdecline48
hi slow 😮 how have you been? 💙
to your previous post, i’m not actually from the middle east 😛 i do live here, but i’m not *from* here 💙 i don’t speak/read/ know arabic 😅 (although it would be a bit helpful wouldn’t it? 🤔) 💙
according to what you wrote earlier it’s probably still allergy season over there 😞 are you okay? :') 💙
@LoveMyMoonflowers So nice of you to check in! I'm okay...for some reason, the pollen is mostly leaving me alone aside from an occasional sneeze.
We have something in common, then. I am not originally from Florida--until 2015 I had never seriously thought about moving here--but I've lived in this state since early '16. Time goes by fast.
Aside from that, I've been getting things done here & there. Sometimes they're even a little enjoyable. 😄
What do you do? Are you in high school, or college?
@slowdecline48
Awwe, whatever the reason is, I’m glad it’s not as bad. An occasional sneeze still isn’t very fun but at least it’s not continuous. yesterday i had a bad cold :/ lots of sneezing. 🙄 Not fun.
Slow that’s interesting because I moved here in 2016 too! 😮 i wonder if it’s hotter in Florida or the Middle East. lol. time does go by fast hehe.
That’s good (: it can be hard to find some tasks enjoyable but I guess, they have to be done.
I’m not in high school yet 😛
@LoveMyMoonflowers 😯 Didn't know you were that young...I keep running into young'uns on here lately. It seems like almost everyone else here is either under 18 or over 50!...
@slowdecline48
yep 😛 i’m not sure if there are more adults or teens on Cups. i’ve heard that the adult side has more rooms and they’re more full than the teen rooms. so it’s likely there are more adults on Cups.
may i ask - what would you like to be called? 😮 from your username there’s only two things i could call you 🤔 (i think we both know someone here who calls you Dec.)
yep, i am near the Gulf! 💜 if you live closer to the water here, it’s cooler i guess, but some weird things happen too. some people have mold growing on their walls in the winter. :') trying to prevent and get rid of the mold is… crazy. thankfully we don’t get that in my house anymore.
i need to drink more water tbh 😅 im not good with drinking water. 😭 thanks for reminding me lol. i’ll go drink some right now 😎 lol.
Also: yes indeed, NE Florida has mold issues too. 😆 The climate is often humid here, so for molds it's ideal. If I could run a mold removal business, I'd do it...the work would be steady, especially in summer.
@slowdecline48
makes sense to me. i thought they might have mold problems there too. lmao a mold removal business 🤭🤭 haha 😛
@slowdecline48
Okay! 💜
@LoveMyMoonflowers As usual, I'm awake & can't sleep when almost everyone else hasn't gotten out of bed yet... What's new in your world?
@slowdecline48
Awwe I’m sorry 😞 that was several hours ago though. :') Did you get any rest…? 💜
Idk lol. I’m just glad it’s finally friday (: 💜 today’s been an… interesting… kinda crazy day. 😅
I did, but that was yesterday...uggghhh.
This world was built by & for day people. I am a night person. That's the problem in a nutshell.
@slowdecline48
Oof. I hear that 🥲 I’m not sure if I’m a day or night person 🤔
It's simple, Ni: when do you have the most energy? Answer that, & you'll know.
If you tend to be most active after the sun goes down, if you can't stand getting up in the morning & feel dragged out when you do get up, then you are one of us night people. If you just love getting up early, are bright-eyed & bushy-tailed by 9 a.m., then you're a day person.
@slowdecline48
lmao definitely a night person 😛 i don’t like mornings. :')
errrrgghhh... 😑
...this is gonna be such a great year. From the way things have been going the last two weeks, I can tell already.
Hope you're feeling alright today, O princess of the great sandbox.
@slowdecline48
dang, that sounded a bit sarcastic lol. i have no idea what’s happening around the world, i don’t watch the news or anything :') so… what did happen? 😮
i’ve been alright and not alright and things in between. i don’t really know. 💜 and princess of the great sandbox 🤣 that cracked me up smh.
i’ve been travelling and dealing with jet lag and life, so… that’s why i’ve replied late. :') i’m sorry 💜 how have you been, slow? <3
@LoveMyMoonflowers Like you, I've been alright & not so alright...mostly because of my health issues. Have gotten little creative things done here & there (I haven't posted pics of all my projects on 7Cups), but lately life hasn't been great overall. I hate growing old. Truly.
@slowdecline48
Awwe i’m really sorry to hear that Slow. ☹️ *offers a hug for you* 😞 I’m glad you’ve been doing some creative things though 💜 does that help any? :') I’m vvv sorry life is so hard… :') 😞
I think I’ve seen some of your art here 😮💜
@LoveMyMoonflowers You're sweet. One way I cope is by remembering something: nowhere is it written that our lives will be all roses & chocolates...that is never guaranteed. Indeed, the first of the "Four Noble Truths" is that life brings suffering. It's easier to get through all the 💩 when you don't have high expectations.
Yes, I've posted snapshots of my art & DIY projects here if want to check it out. It's site-appropriate stuff (mostly) since this is 7Cups-Land.
@slowdecline48
that’s so true tbh. :') i don’t really have many expectations for much anymore. a few, things i know are probably going to happen, but idk.
awwe thanks for the link slow <3 i’ll have a look 👀💜
@LoveMyMoonflowers Jet lag, eh? I hope it was a fun trip, or at least a tolerable one.
@slowdecline48
I’d say it was tolerable. 🥲
It's been a few days, @LoveMyMoonflowers...
How are you doing, Ni?
Right now I'm a bit irritated. This is not unusual.
@slowdecline48
it has :') I’m so sorry for the late reply. i’ve been away from cups for a while, i just disappeared for a bit. i thought of leaving permanently but here i am… i’m back. 💜 still here :')
im doing okay right now but it’s been hard lately 💜 thanks for asking. how are you now, Slow? :o
what made you feel irritated? ): 💜
Lessee now, that was Saturday...ah yes. It was because a woman I met a just over two weeks earlier didn't show up after we had agreed on her doing so, so I could get to her property & help clear the back yard (& score some free hardwood in the process. Currently I don't drive, so sometimes I need transport). Apparently she just forgot & went to Ocala with a friend of hers instead. That kinda *** me off.
It was the second time she didn't show up. I wasn't bothered by the first time as something with her job came up. She texted me to let me know. I understood...s*** happens, right? No point in getting upset about something beyond your control. The second time was different--she just flaked out. After that I blocked her number. I don't have time to waste on scatterbrained fools who can't run their own lives.
