BPD busters ( part two )
Hey everyone! This is part two of our series BPD and Buster's.
Today we will be talking about the Buster of actions.
Let's face it, everyone can relate to the fact that with actions comes hardships or even change. However people with BPD often don't realise that their ( moment action ) can cause great consequences, When I speak of ( moment action ) I am simply talking about that rage , that tick that just hits that huge red button and BOOM. We feel so deeply and because we feel so deeply we often act on those feelings. This is something we need to bust out. We need to use our DBT skills or any coping strategies that may help you because without these we will definitely ruin relationships.
Let me share an example from my own life.
So almost a year ago I was Rejected from church and I Remember the phone call I had with the pastor and how mad I got. I remember telling him how wrong he is and how he needs to accept everyone and should learn about mental illness but the way I did this was super mean. I acted out in rage and told him off and then hang the phone up on him. I had also threatened him I would take legal action, I acted out of ( Moment action) instead of just calming down and then speaking with him. A couple of months later I sat down with the head of our church and was very calm and he even said sorry. My actions then cause a effect of healing which I faced about a two weeks ago when I found out my current church was joining the church that Rejected me for a Sunday service. Our pastor called me and I was listening to them and then I could feel that (Moment action ) take place but I remain calm and because of it our relationship is pretty good.
I chose to kick that (moment action) out of the door and even though I am learning I am still growing.
* What are some of your ( moment actions ) ?
* Have you learnt from them ?
* What are some buttons in your life you should not press ?
Let us know! We love hearing from you !
Most of my ( moment actions ) come from a place of anger, but being a quiet BPD, I tend to turn this anger inward towards myself... I am actually trying to learn how to express this anger in an appropriate way and outwardly. There are many buttons that set off this anger, one is certainly a sense of not being respected, or being rejected.
Thank you for this post.
