Bpd Poetry

August 25th, 2016

Hello, my name is Shawnna, and I am 24 years old. I love with borderline personality disorder, anxiety, and depression.

I cope largely by writing poetry about my mental illness and long recovery journey.

Not feeling well, would love to chat.

Hard to See

My discomfort rises

I try to analyze this

I'm afraid

That I just cannot conquer, that I won't be saved

I'm terrified of falling, too far down below

Will I be able to pull myself out? Will my progress show?

All I can do is be true to myself

Self-awareness being my greatest wealth

Try to cope, try to breathe

When I feel myself slipping out of reach

I can't give up, I'm getting closer

I'll try to stay calm and keep my composure

But I'm still afraid

Through the water can I wade?

I wonder, can you see?

The fight, the will in me?

Sometimes it slips my vision

What a divide, what a schism

I want to hold it together, be stable, be steady

Oh, when will that day come? When will I be ready?

It can be so hard to see,

The strength, the will in me

@BoundInChains

This poem moved me.

It's brave of you to put a piece of yourself out on display like this through poetry. kudos

I find art to be a wonderful coping mechanism, it seems you have a way with words and poetry.

Thank you for sharing

@BoundInChains

This is so simple, honest, and beautiful. Thank you! I too am a writer of poetry although it has been some time since I've written anything new. Maybe I'll try my hand at it again soon.

This is a great way to express yourself in a healthy manner. Please continue to share.
