Bpd and identity
Basically I was diagnosed with bpd a few years ago. I've recently learnt more about the condition. That you can have a lack of self of self and trouble with knowing your identity. I saw someone says it's like you mirror others around you. I went through a 'phase' or whatever you want to call it where I thought I was trans I went by he / him and even would use the mens restroom. Now I have no idea who or what I am apart from my biological sex Basically I was diagnosed with bpd a few years ago. I've recently learnt more about the condition. Not looking for an answer just looking for a discussion.
@pluckypLucky Hi Lucky! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I can understand how this would be frustrating for you. It must be hard not knowing whether your gender identity is you or if it is being influenced by the BPD. I don't have much experience with BPD, but have you talked to your doctor about this? I found this resource, which may be helpful if you are looking to do more reading: https://www.racgp.org.au/afp/2015/november/gender-dysphoria#:~:text=Borderline%20personality%20disorder%20is%20defined,involved%20to%20aid%20in%20assessment. Regardless of anything, how you feel is valid and you shouldn't be too hard on yourself! You will be okay and we are here for you! 😊

Dear Lucky,
it sounds like you came to a point in your life that enables you to get to know yourself better and spend more time with yourself.
I am not familiar with every characteristic of BPD, but I can comprehend that identity issues play an important role and that is no wonder given the ups and downs you are experiencing.
I don't know how appealing it is to you to just sit alone with yourself and contemplate about who you are - what you like, what your goals, values, beliefs and aspirations are. Just writing a long letter to yourself about what makes you being - you. I am sure that for this, you will need to be in a good place mentally. I recommend making a weekly habit out of this, whenever you feel like you are stable with your emotions.
I know that you are struggling and that all of this is easier said than done, but I believe in you... We are here to support you and you don't have to do this exploration process alone. Don't be shy to ask for help! ❤️
