Everythings very ??!!
So when I was seeing my counsellor during my time at school about 5 years ago, I asked him what he thought I would be diagnosed with. Him being a fully trained professional, said he would put me in the catagories of BPD, Dysthemia, and GAD. 5 years have obviously passed, and it all seems to have gotten worse. I tried seeing a doctor about my concerns of bpd, but she turned me away and said "everyone has these symptoms". I don't know what to say to my gp to make them take me more seriously?? I could waltz in like I did last time, but I think if I was turned away again I'd get worse.
Not entirely sure what to do?
Is there a way to get in contact with a therapist directly, or do you need to go through your gp? And di you mention that your counsellor said you might have bpd as well, that it's not just you self-diagnosing?
Doctors not taking you seriously because you're the one pointing out the symptoms always make me so angry. Who best to judge how I'm feeling than me?!
@Cirwenne I need to go through my gp, unfortunately. I said I had concerns last time, I didn't feel like my upper school counsellor's opinion was very valuable
Urgh, that really sucks. You could always try and see if maybe she might find your counsellor's opinion of interest, after all. Or maybe just tell her you're going through a tough time, and even if it might not be bpd, you could still really use professional help? After all, you don't *need* to be mentally ill to benefit from a mental health professional.
I think that you should not let them treat you like that. Research for BPD specialist, because BPD is very serious and you deserve proper care. I hope you don't get worst. Best luck :)
