Hospitalization experiences
Hey y'all my name is Weiwen and I'm pretty new to this site, and don't quite know how to use it yet. I'm living with BPD, depression, anxiety and PTSD. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my first hospitalization, and it got me thinking on how terrified I was when I first arrived at the psych ward. I was placed on an involuntary status, and didn't know shit about my rights, or how long I was going to be there, or how to interact with the nurses and psychiatrist to get what I needed. Thinking about this experience made me curious to know what other people's experiences in hospitals have been like. Most of what's out there on the internet are horror stories written by staff at psych wards, not actually from the patients themselves. If you're comfortable sharing, what was hospitalization like for you?
@waybackwhen As a member of the LGBT community, there is a lot to not like about Utah however, Intermountain Healthcare in Northern Utah seems like one of the best in the nation. For a very conservative state, everyone referred to me by my correct name and pronouns. I've been hospitalized six times now and every time its been five days. I'm not sure how things differ between psych wards but every morning there was a meeting with a psychologist and my support team letting me know when I would leave and what I needed to do to leave. I worry about leaving Utah because I've heard horror stories from other states.
