Hi, I am new to talking about my problems and I need some advice on what to do!:)

So recently I have been feeling this strange longing for someone to care or be concerned about me. Like I want someone to notice when I'm upset and try and make me feel better. Or simply just wonder if I'm doing ok if I get sick or hurt. But I don't want to seem like the kind of person that would fake and injury to get attention. That not me at all! I just want someone to be concerned about me. But I have stooped soo low that I keeping thinking that I want to get hurt by some freak accident so that someone will notice me. I don't know why I feel like that! It not a normal feeling to have is it? I don't know what to do! If anyone has any advice how to help me get over this or how to help me I would be greatful! And is this something I should talk to someone about?

Hello there. That's completely normal and it's not attention seeking. But I know that it's hard to change that thoughts about being just an attention seeker, so that's why you need to remember this: We ALL need attention. Everyone.

We just have healthy ways of getting it, which is characteristic of normal person, and we have also unhealthy ways of getting it, which is characteristic for us, mentally ill people. We (mentally ill ones) have immature defense mechanisms and it's all part of our illnesses, and most of the things we think/do aren't really appropriate for most of situations in our lives and that's why mental illnesses make life so difficult.

We're not "crazy" people, we just have different coping skills than other people (pathological ones, but hey, so what ? Can we change that ? No, especially if we have chronic mental illness).
So don't be worried about it - it's normal. You need to accept it as a normal part of your disorder ( I guess that you have BPD because otherwise you wouldn't post here, right ? ) and to try slowly to get used to it because it won't fade.

Of course, you can work on that symptom, I myself work on it with my doctor and to be honest, IT GOT BETTER. YUUUUP. It's better! I sometimes have bad times but they pass and aren't that dramatic as they were before therapy.

Hope I helped you. You need to tell that to your therapist.
