I'm new to this community
Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. My path step today is to post to one of the communities I'm in. I chose this one because yesterday I was told my mental health problems fit the category of BPD. I always thought I was just depressed but managing poorly or needed to take different meds. This new label has changed how I view my struggles and has brought up all my feelings of shame, sorrow and defectiveness. I am at home and have a lot of free time today but all I want to do is lie down and sleep.

Welcome to 7 Cups and Personality Disorders Support! You're not alone and we're all here with you.
I can relate with you. Finally having a label that fits what we struggle with can be a really helpful tool. It makes it much easier to find resources and figure out the next steps towards growth and healing. We have a thread for Resources for BPD in this subcommunity, which I think you might like.
We're happy to have you 💙 I hope you enjoy it here.

Dear Ocean, I am so glad that putting a label on your struggles has helped you in forming a new perspective. Some people find being diagnosed either unhelpful, because it often evokes stigma regarding their disorder or they see it equivalent as labeled "crazy".
Many individuals don't understand this but the label is actually there in order to help mental health professionals (as well as the person who has been diagnosed) in finding the right treatment. When we can put a label on our stuggles, in doing that we can much easier find adequate treatment that is in accordance with the diagnosed disorder.
I am sending you lots of hugs and support Ocean ❤️
