Irreplaceable therapist search help...
Hi! I've been diagnosed by a professional (borderline +ptsd) and things were going just fine until my Health Insurance changed. So I had to change therapist. Not only the psychologist but also the psychiatrist.
After that I've been jumping from one professional to another for the last 4 years. I feel like I'm doing all the job by myself. And the sessions are just talking and talking forever. No action.
My 1st therapist was so awesome! She would bring some fun activities for me to do, drawing ...even a fast moving light to desensitise triggers and a light aproach to hypnosis and guided meditation.
What kind of therapy was that? I've been trying to find someone like her again. But I don't know what to look for. I've been to 4 different professionals already... Disappointed with all of them.
At the moment I gave up. No more therapy and quit my medication. So far so good... But it would be nice to find her "clone" somewhere in the world.
Hi there @MaxySoS, welcome here! I am really glad you have found our community and I hope you will get the support you deserve.
I really understand how frustrating would be to have to change your therapist, when everything was actually going very fine with her. It is not always easy to find someone we are comfortable to work with, and it is very sad when we are forced to let that go.
For what you said, she seemed to have perhaps a CBT or DBT approach, perhaps some art-therapy was involved too (with the drawing), and maybe EMDR. I am no expert though, and I wonder if posting your question here may better help you? I really hope you will find again a therapist that is a good fit for you.
